Hallowed Cain formed in 1998, the project of guitarist Dana and bassist Pat, both of Northeastern, Maryland. The 2001 recruit of drummer Phil of Newark, Delaware marked the beginning of Hallowed Cain as a solid unit, and within six months the band was playing out locally. By mixing strong percussion, thumping bass, chugging riffs and Ortt's melodic vocals, Hallowed Cain embodied a variety of sounds and styles that defied any particular genre.

The band has earned recognition throughout the Northeastern Maryland/Delaware music scene, and has been a recurring name on the weekend slots of several venues in that area. By coupling their distinctly original songs with some classic tributes, their broadening fan base has expanded and continues to do so. They have been the subject of two feature articles in Maryland's The Cecil Whig, and have had their music aired by Delaware's legendary rock promoter, 91.3 WVUD's The Tink.

To date, Hallowed Cain has recorded three demos; the first of which contained five original songs. Following that was a 10-song recording which blended five Hallowed Cain titles with five tribute songs, including unique renditions of Billy Joel's "Pressure," The Rolling Stones' "Paint it Black," and Peter Gabriel's "Shock the Monkey." Their third and most recent fully-original demo was finished in March 2004, showcasing five new songs that pinpoint the evolution of Hallowed Cain as a cohesive and distinct musical entity.

In October of 2004, Brain joined the Hallowed Cain crew drums.  Already his impact has helped the band become a tighter unit and above all, a much more powerful live band.  It was also during this time that the Cecil Whig featured a poll for the "Best of the Best" in Cecil County.  Hallowed Cain was selected as the #2 Local Band...

this is just the beginning...
